Board Member Requirements

WCRHA shall have up to 15 Board members.

The Directors shall be regular members of WCRHA in good standing for at least one (1) year prior to election to the Board of Directors.

Directors shall be of the age of majority in the State of California.  Directors shall endorse and be dedicated to promoting and encouraging the showing of reining horses.

Each Director shall hold office for a term of three years.

Any person qualified to be a Director may run for an open Board seat. Nominations for the Board may not be made after the date set for close of nominations

The Directors will be elected at each annual meeting.  The candidates receiving the highest number of votes shall be elected to the currently open Director positions.  Directors will be eligible for reelection without limitation on the number of terms they may serve, provided they continue to meet the qualifications required.

Board Member Roles and Responsibilities

Board members are committed to the success of WCRHA and will be actively involved in committees and events as determined by the President of the Board of Directors.  Each Board member will be a member of at least one committee and volunteer at events when needed.

Board members are expected to attend all regularly scheduled Board meetings.  Members with more than 2 absences in a 12 month period may be removed from the Board.

Directors will work together both during and outside of meetings to further the mission and goals of WCRHA.

Directors are expected to fulfill their assigned duties timely and consistent with Board of Directors expectation.

During meetings Board members should be prepared to actively participate in discussions and decisions of the Board.

Directors will always treat each other with respect and courtesy, share knowledge and experience, and support each other for both the individual and collective success of the Board.

When an issue arises, speak with the appropriate other board members about the issue and how to resolve it prior to board meetings if at all possible.

Disruptive, disrespectful or threatening behavior will not be tolerated.

Failure of a Board member from adhering to these duties may be cause for removal from the Board.  A 2/3’s vote of the Board members in good standing is required to remove a Board member for failure to perform his/her duties.  A decision of the Board is final.
